Andrea Subissati is a sociologist and writer on cultural studies and the horror film genre.
In 2010, her first book on the social impact of zombie cinema was published under the title When There’s No More Room in Hell: The Sociology of the Living Dead (2010). Since then, Lady Hellbat has become a voice in horror journalism thanks to her appearances on the Rue Morgue Podcast and as a guest on the Fright Bytes webcast series. Her writing has appeared on PlanetFury.com and she has contributed to The Undead and Theology (2012) and Rue Morgue’s 200 Alternative Horror Films You Need to See (Dec 2012).
In addition to freelance writing, Lady Hellbat is co-curator of The Black Museum, a horror lecture series she founded with Canuxploitation creator Paul Corupe, and co-host of The Faculty of Horror, a horror podcast she founded with writer Alexandra West.
Lady Hellbat lives and works out of Toronto, Ontario. She continues to indulge in her passion for all things dark and when she is not hunched over her laptop, she can be found playing roller derby with The Gore-Gore Rollergirls.
