Guillermo Del Toro to lead Hitchcock class

Now THIS is exciting news! Guillermo Del Toro (director of such wonders as Pan’s Labyrinth, The Devil’s Backbone and Mimic) is going to be leading a 4-day film and lecture series on four of Alfred Hitchcock’s movies at the TIFF Bell Lightbox here in Toronto!

I’ve had the privilege of hearing Del Toro speak in person on movies twice now; once at the Rue Morgue Cinemacabre screening of Mimic and then again at a TIFF Bell Lightbox screening of L’Arcano Incantatore, which Del Toro programmed himself. If you have never seen Del Toro speak in the flesh, let me tell  you what a delight it is. His genuine enthusiasm talking about these films more than convince you that he’s a genre superfan first and a filmmaker second. I can’t stress enough what a treat he is to watch. His energy is as contagious as his commentaries are insightful, and I sure hope I can attend this series!

As of now, the event has only been announced but I will post more info for registration when it becomes available.
